If you work in the dental world, you are probably familiar with curing lights. This is an essential tool for any dentist, and they are used in modern dentistry.

Curing lights, also known as light curing lights, are used to harden restored dental materials after undergoing a light activation process and as accelerating agents in tooth whitening.

When we want a long-lasting restoration, adequate polymerisation is very important, which depends on a light source with a certain power, the quality of the light, the time it is exposed, the incidence, the distance and not forgetting the energy and heat it gives off.

Some of the most common uses of polymerisation lamps are the following:

  • Activating resin cements
  • Placing brackets
  • Restoring teeth with light-curing composites
  • Curing of cavity-based materials.

We at BADER would like to give you some tips on how to avoid malfunctions in light curing light curing units:

Do not overload the lamp. When the battery is 100% charged, it is necessary to disconnect it.
It is important to always place the lamp on its base to avoid damaging the electrical contacts.
Be careful with the optical fibre when cleaning it, as it is the most sensitive part of the lamp.

There are different types of curing lamps:

  • Halogen lamps
  • Laser curing lamps
  • Plasma arc lamps
  • LED curing lights

Of course, all curing lights are useful and do their job, but for some time now, we have been seeing a lot of interest in LED curing lights. Dental professionals are very much in favour of these tools because they are lightweight, quiet and do not overheat.
